UFO Conjectures

Where’s the Roswell evidence? There isn’t any…

….just conjecture and hearsay, nothing concrete or substantial – mere circumstantial profferings that may work in a court of law but not in the halls of academe or laboratories of science.

Despite all the ravings of Roswell believers, there is not one scintilla of bona fide evidence to support the idea that an extraterrestrial flying saucer crashed near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 (or at any other time).

There is a newspaper story and multiple second and third-hand “witness” exclamations, but that’s it.

There is no alien debris or photographs of alien debris (just balloon debris), or anything else that can substantiate the initial newspaper account and lingering witness accounts.

If there were alien bodies, as some contend(ed), no one has provided proof of them.

And if the alleged craft was comprised of “memory metal” as Tony Bragalia’s research seems to indicate, where is that memory metal? Why did no one spirit a piece away from the officials of the day, if the Roswell crowd was as smart and intrigued by the event as some UFO buffs have it?

Those in the UFO community who hate Roswell debunking, let them provide the evidence that they think “proves” the Roswell scenario that has emerged as a reality for them.

They can’t do so, for there is no evidence, none whatsoever.

The supposed FBI teletype may have occurred but that doesn’t prove an alien accident. It merely shows an FBI interest, if true, in a bizarre occurrence near Roswell that July in 1947.

The overreaching military presence doesn’t prove anything either, other than a reaction to what may have been considered a “cold war” intrusion or attempt.

Every other Roswell detail may be attributed to an hysterical aftermath of a minor incident that has been magnified after the fact by Stanton Friedman and other UFO/ET stalwarts,
continuing even now in the enlightened age of 2009.

There is no Roswell proof. There never will be. So let’s all move on….to other UFO mysteries where the payoff may be more rewarding.

  • Yes I agree (surprise!).

To be fair, there are, or were, a few first-hand witnesses. However there never has been a witness to the actual 'crash'.
And no, there never will be any real physical evidence, any alien bodies or any genuine official documentation produced to support this alleged ET event.
Only more and more useless anecdotal testimony, supported by nothing at all, even contemporary diaries or photos.

Having said this, I await the usual ET promoters to tell us, for the zillionth time, that the real evidence is there but that US government is sitting on it all and has been for the past 6 decades.

Move on please, let us have a British Roswell, such as (maybe?) Rendlesham.

  • CDA:

We are among the few who haven't gotten hoodwinked by the Roswell nonsense that has permeated and confused the whole UFO mystery.

(And we'll be vilified for not being hoodwinked.)

  • Sounds like your fed up with the whole scenario, bad day in the office???

  • Yah Stephen...

We may need more coffee. We have been a bit cranky (crankier than usual) lately.

  • Perhaps Elvis as left the room. If Isa \ Jesus The Christ’s alleged resurrection in regard to his physical return either as an apparition or a physical feat happened sixty years ago, we would have the Gnostics blogging about the spiritual \inter-dimensional return as envisioned by Mary Magdalene, the political wing headed by Saul posting counterclaims of eye witness testimony, then faked videos, festivals commencing this, researchers commenting on the compelling coincidences to Egyptian mythology, All of this adds twists, slants, projections, superimposition's and simply opinion in juxtaposition to the aim of this individual, which was to teach, challenge and provoke reflection on ones role in a larger world, albeit unseen directly. History has perhaps superimposed the recurrence of certain themes in new contexts. Is there crash debris? To we require proof? Some do, some do not.. The psychology of this makes Roswell a subtext to a centuries old debate on the observers relationship to what one seeks out of a proverbial library of babble, to simply say one does not know is enough justification to repeat Ouspensky’s reply;” I dont know, I wasn’t there.” Painting doves to make canaries is an ancient human trait by substituting history for reality as if proof and truth were interchangeable, if certainty and logic were infallible, and so in the end, all of this Roswell totemic behavior may be a moot point, as the evidence is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Well Bruce completely lost me there...but! I agree mostly with CDA and RRRGroup that there is no evidence. However, to say there's nothing to the Roswell story at all is to ignore TONS of anecdotal and second hand testimony. While this isn't scientific evidence/proof, we must say at least SOMETHING happened. I don't think UFO research should hover around Roswell, that much is definitely the case. However, let some hardcore Roswell researches keep at it, they might dig up a hidden gem somewhere along the way. I think the memory metal articles are proof that more interesting tidbits can be discovered still. We may never know, but it's still something worth trying for, IMO.

  • Armakan01...

You are right about Bruce Duensing; he can be abstruse, but always brilliant when one can digest his insights.

Tony Bragalia's research, as noted, indicates that there may be some Roswell nuggets yet to be unearthed.

Roswell aficionados have that to hang their hope on.

  • Having been an eyewitness to flying craft of "unusual" configuration myself, I have to disagree with the lack of proof. I watched as two F16 fighters chased about a dozen flying disks over the New Jersey coast without success in engaging them. I also witnessed a huge cylindrical craft slowly moving across a summer evening sky in Philadelphia back in the 1960's. There were dozens of others who also watched this strange craft slowly move across the sky, without a gondola and propeller as in blimps, and with windows on the "fuselage" just like a jumbo jet.

The physical evidence that you are looking for does exist and yes, it has been kept from the general public since the 1940's. The real question is not weather UFOs and aliens exist, but why the secrecy about it? What will the outcome of disclosure be like?

All in all, I would have to think that since landing on the Moon in the sixties and seventies, there must be a good reason why we did not return to "exploit" the Moon and set up a colony. And I doubt that lack of technology is the reason.

As most of you do, I am skeptical of all the stories that go with aliens and UFO's but I am also open enough to see that if we are here, there must be others elsewhere.

  • Fred:

We agree with you pretty much, and some here have seen bona fide UFOs over the years.

But where is the Roswell (or UFO) evidence?

Seeing something "alien" doesn't count as evidence.

Trace markings, film, photos, and video are evidence, of a kind, but of what exactly?

    Try to be scientific please.

  • Luckily in Britain we haven’t had to be saddled with US paranoia about having to be top dog in the world that has been around since 1942 and the 'Battle of LA' so we can look at the UFO phenomena a bit more dispassionately. Because of the time distance since Roswell, it would be hard to find good evidence or witnesses of any crash that might have been. So we can now look forward to further revelations regarding 'The Rendlesham Forrest Incident' and without American military intimidation even though it happened around US nuclear bases in England.

  • @ CDA:

I completely agree. Let us focus on Rendlesham. I am not an "ET supporter", however I think the Govt might be sitting on 'something'.

But it was far too long ago.

Imagine if Rendlesham was pursued with the same amount of vigour and enthusiasm as Roswell is today. Every single one of the witnesses is still alive.

If any case has a chance of making something happen and increasing awareness of the seriousness of the subject it's Rendlesham. (IMO)

  • Well lets think about this for a sec. Whether your a believer in Roswel or not lets pretend we have brains of our own. Now if you're gonna just believe what your government tells you that's your own decision. Now let's consider that our government has all these highly intelligent people. Now lets consider the FACT that after the roswell crash the government gets there hands on whatever you believe was there. So lets consider that these highly intelligent officials, scientist, what have you had this wreckage for two weeks, then issued their press release, that they recovered a "ufo" and bodies, and that they were sending these things to dallas texas for further analysis. Then the very next day released the report that it was a weather balloon. So what you're saying is that these highly intelligent people couldn't determine the difference between a spaceship and a weather balloon. I don't buy it.
and look at California after the attack on pearl harbor and the supposed "ufo" sighting from the military there and the cover-ups there when they shot at something with more than 1800 rounds and hit nothing, and they still reenact that event today,And what about the thousands of sightings since then. do we honestly believe that all of our fellow humans are all lying.Pilots, military personel, police officers, and civilians. don't get me wrong i'm not saying its all true or that some isn't fake. If you really want to know the truth you should just look at history, ancient and recent. There is so much supporting evidence, that I personally don't need to see a "ufo". There are so many things out there that we don't know about, can't see, can't wrap our minds around but to sit there and think that you're the most amazing thing in the Universe, when you can't even physically use both sides of your brain is a bit naieve.

  • No, there is evidence. It's in the photo of the military man in your own picture above. Computer analysis, not available back then, today show the details written in that very note, of which it says they have recovered victims from the wreck, have shipped the disc, and to continue with the weather balloon cover story. It's been hidden in plain sight all these years, just waiting for modern computer analysis.
