UFO Conjecture(s)

We're not going to get immersed in the alien abduction brouhaha that is running amok all over the UFO community...

But we are making available, a compilation (by Jeff Carney), of some papers by alien abduction mavens (including some in the current abduction imbroglio).

The PDF is mostly for newbies to the abduction phenomenon, but some regulars here might find a few interesting morsels.

  • In reference to Dr. David Jacobs and Budd Hopkins, I cannot resist this famous scened from Adam Sandler's film, "Waterboy."

There are some things wrong with those boys medulla oblongatas, IMHO.

  • And Steve,

Your comment could open the door to those who want to get embroiled in the Railey/Hopkins/Jacobs ado.

Fortunately, I can prevent that from happening....and will.

  • I'm not exactly sure why this is being called a "brouhaha" (a negative connotation) when it's a push to critically examine the quality of research into a portion of the UFO landscape - I might add one that hasn't been all that questioned before on the public level it is now.

    I would think that's a good thing.

  • JR:

    You're a rather smart person.

The alien abduction segment of the UFO community has become a brouhaha -- negative and all, although brouhaha isn't defined as a negative thing.

We've covered the abduction phenomenon at this blog and others several times.

But the current alien abduction scenario is ablaze with personality conflicts and egos that wish to be noticed.

We're not going there, even under the guise of re-examining the abduction accounts that remain grist for professionals outside the UFO field.

  • "You see this cat Shaft is a bad mother--
    (Shut your mouth)
    But I'm talkin' about Shaft
    (Then we can dig it)"

    ---Isaac Hayes ["Shaft"]

Exsqueeze me? Pardon me for humorously expressing a relevant opinion.

    Yes, there's no need to exacerbate the Hopkins / Jacobs controversy since it's already all over the place. And it is your blog, so pardonnez-moi, s'il vous plaƮt! 8^}

  • Oh I wasn't chastising you Steve for your "humorous" aside.

I was just pointing out, obtusely apparently, that some would just love to find one more forum where they could froth at the mouth about the sad Rainey/Hopkins/ Jacobs thing.

One can't leave the door open, even a smidgen, for the cantankerous gaggle of quidnuncs who have an opinion on an affair that has mushroomed like a herpes infection, without any sign of surcease in the offing.

(I told Nick Redfern that the affair was a tar-baby from which one could not extricate oneself if caught up in it. And that seems to be the case at UpDates.)

I think the abduction "phenomenon" is very interesting with antecedents that may apply.

But in all the hubbub, the "events" have been replaced by blather of a very deleterious kind.

  • Reminds me of Shaver's Dero. Palmer would've loved this stuff.

  • You know, Don, that Mac Tonnies' (may he rest in peace) cryptoterrestrials come very close to Shaver's Deros.

    Double ick...

  • RR-
You'll get no arguments from me on how it's de-evolved into personalities, so I fully understand your not wanting to engage in it.

Sadly, I fear the crux of the issue (and the only real issue) will fade into the background and be overrun with the meaningless.

Such seems to be UFOlogy's consistent pattern.
