I like the comment from a senator "Not a single flying saucer has applied for FAA approval".
Indeed!
His remarks were made at about the time Roswell was getting USAF attention again (1994).
As to SETI, does the writer really suppose that it was ever "unthinkable that we are not alone"? It was certainly thinkable by some in centuries past. Nowadays it is virtually unthinkable that we ARE alone.
