Aime Michel later recanted on his orthoteny principle. I think it was his own countryman, Jacques Vallee, who cast severe doubts on it and caused him to recant. As to those debates of long ago, I am amazed (or I was many years ago) that Menzel ever stooped to writing for such a pro-ET publication as FLYING SAUCER REVIEW, but there it is.
It was a time when there was actually substantive dialog amongst some very sharp minds, rather than recycled rhetorical postulates being placed before an unknown phenomenon.
It is interesting to read this and accept, that in that time, there were some minds that did not try to simplify the complex as is common now, like having the intellectual wherewithal in scripting a cartoon for a 12 year old.
It is also interesting to consider how Dolan, the librarian who has script writing aspirations, That out of work physicist selling books out of his trunk, and the general tired miasma of entropy has settled in like a conquering sand dune.
Collecting junk replicas of stamps to place a wax seal in an empty envelope.
My response?, "Later, I have to see a man about a new dog."
