UFO: Not Nuts and Bolts

Frank Warren has posted at his site -- The UFO Chronicles -- this photo (two versions) of a UFO spotted over Paderborn, Illinois, October 23rd:

You can read about the sighting/photograph (at Mr. Warren's venue) by clicking HERE

While there have been a few photos of similarly lighted UFOs during the golden years of flying saucers, most reports and photographs (hoaxed and "real") indicated flying craft with "metal tangibility."

Since such metallic UFOs have become rare and eschewed by UFO aficionados, it seems the multi-lit UFO is making a comeback.

Why?

  • ...as this sighting was in a St. Louis suburb, near an AFB and the nearby Boeing-owned ex-McDonnell Douglas HQ facility has, in the past, dabbled a bit in flying technology, AND ignoring these facts, AND enjoying writing long, run on sentences, I will go out on a limb and claim that, due to the objects' described flight characteristics, they are but simple, non-Charles Moore-Mogul-Japanese Balloon Bomb Halloween balloon pranks....

....and I await Dr. Rudiak's wordy, multipost, rebuttal!

  • KP:

Optometrist Rudiak is loath to comment here as we won't give him the carte blanche that Randle and Bruce-Knapp allow.

  • The sightings sound a lot like the star Capella scintillating (the police left the scene with the UFO still there and slowly rising!) and Jupiter.

  • Any photo (or even video) of a light against a solid black background with no other objects (buildings, landscape, etc.) providing a frame of reference should be rejected out of hand.

Even with my poor camera skills, I could easily hoax a photo like this using a toy that lights up and black cloth. If I were doing a video, I would just move the camera so that the light looked as if it were moving.

    This is hoaxing 101.

  • ...no...NOT Hoaxing 101, but only Freshman Hoaxing Orientation..

  • I just wanted to point out that when I suggested Jupiter as part of the solution, I am talking about the object that appeared "after 8 PM" in the original story. Jupiter rose around 8:15PM.

  • You're are starting off with a false premise: metallic UFOs have become "rare" and "eschewed" by the UFO community.

Since when? That's a total fabrication.

  • Glenn...

    That's a conclusion not a premise.

And it's a correct observation, if you're tuned into what UFO reports and sightings are extant.
