What do you think?

Ryan Hart provided a (short) video that he'd like an explanation for:

Take a look and tell us what you think the video shows.

  • Hello Rich,
    My first thoughts:
Looks like a relative common jet liner contrail illuminated during A.M. sunrise + a classical optic effect/illusion of certain liner contrail making as if crashing (or ascending as ballistic missile)+ "artefacts" of strange structures when zooming cause the rezolution + light saturation of the camera/captor...

    Regards,

    Gilles

  • Merci, Gilles...

It looks to be something mundane, although it is odd.

  • PS: "I" have many examples in our French forum. Take a look to this one (same liner contrail in sunrise or sunshine), but a different optical illusion perspective, "same" shape.

  • Information missing:

    Speed
    Direction
    Bearing
    Date

Looks like a missile. But I am unaware of any missile launch facilities that far north...

Depending on the date it may have been an Air force XB-37. The Air Force has 3 of them.

  • There is a discontinuity between the two shots. Are we to assume they represent the same phenomenon? Is the second shot the result of open combustion or of water vapor held in the atmosphere forming a contrail or both? The first shot is more interesting..but I suspect both are susceptible to what Gilles assumes it is. A better camera would have been helpful.
