Swords and Vallee -- Two kinds of brilliance

Papers circulating at our private UFO web-site by Michael Swords and Jacques Vallee might prove interesting to some of you.

Michael Swords offers this: "Could Extraterrestrials be Expected to Breathe Our Air?"

And Jacques Vallees presentation is "Five Arguments Against the Extraterrestrial Origin of Unidentified Flying Objects"

  • Thank you, RR -

...once again you provide real food for thought!

Could you tell us what year these papers were offered? I was unable to find that in the body of the papers. AND the chart in the Swords paper displays as only a long 'list' of it's component parts...

  • KP:

I'll look at the original download and see what date appears.

It may not be the date of publication but will be closer than the date here.

(The copies are intact as we have them, any shortcomings are not ours; we didn't edit or adjust any of the material.)

  • KP:

The person who offered these papers to our UFO web-site did so in 2010, which is very likely not the date of their origination.

Someone who visits here might know when they first appeared and where.

  • Vallee is smart and this is an intelligent analysis of the problem. Notice that it's 24 years old and yet little if anything could be added now to make it more current. Several things require commment. First, I'm not persuaded that the "too many sightings" problem really works to refute the ETH. If, say, 95% of all sightings turn out to be conventional misidentifications anyway, then we really don't have too many actual unconventional sightings to explain. Second, space creatures that generally resemble us can be easily explained...we were seeded. Third, his criticism of abductions works for me; but I never did associate it rationally with any ETH anyway. The two most difficult aspects of the phenomenon/ETH for me, however, (and both "cut" in different directions) are the electro/magnetic and physical trace case evidence which bespeak an intelligent technological/physical phenomenon and, two, the important historical evidence that Vallee and others have gathered that whatever is going on now has been going on for decades, even centuries. How are those aspects of the UFO phenomenon to be resolved in any rational manner?
