The Aldeburgh Platform

I found this in our archives, and hope the source forgives me for not knowing how we obtained it:

The Aldeburgh Platform

These two images appeared in the original capture:
                                  The Platform
                                The Locale

The sighting should be well known to CDA and other Brits; it reminds me of the Reverend Gill/New Guinea sighting of 1959, nine years earlier.

  • This sighting report has been given attention at the Magonia blog, it's how I know about it. I'm pretty sure it's how any of us know about it. Surely that's your source Rich.

  • Rich, There is about a 44 minute interview with Gill on www.internetarchive.org in a subcategory called "community audio". Search term faded discs will provide you with Wendy Connors Faded Discs audio archives which have many hours of UAP related audio, which is where I found the Zamora 1964 interview. You may find these archives useful. Best, James

  • In the spirit of wild speculation, this sounds like a "window" into a different reality, rather than a solid material object. The Fortean literature contains many such apparitions, of course, which could fit this MO. From what I've read on the subject, this apparition is fairly consistent with what one would observe while looking into one end of a wormhole through spacetime. I wonder where/when the other end was?

  • I am reminded of Vallee's coining of the term "psychic technology" when reviewing this post.
The symbolism versus the literal interpretation of a viewing platform
do not seem to contradict one another. The non-local versus the local which appears to have no purpose other than to be seen simply on the surface of things. Staged is a word that comes to mind.
Staged by what? The contrast to the Socorro event is interesting in comparing a literal versus symbolic interpretation.
The other categorical phenomenon of a psychic kind replete with physical effects that have no physicality as an obvious cause for them also comes to mind.
Deconstructing logic by metalogic comes to mind..a sort of criticism of our notions of cause and effect come to mind as well.
The strange remains persistently strange both then and now.

  • We need to know more about the witness herself. Was she prone to such visions and what had she read in the past? Was she interested in the occult?

On October 21, 1954 a similar sighting occurred at a village near Stafford, UK, in which a mother and her 2 young sons witnessed an object hovering over their house and the UFO occupants peering out of a window at them whilst the family lay outdoors frightened by it all. I acquired the original newspaper report of it.

The woman in question had psychic experiences prior to this, however. Also, it turned out that she had recently read the Adamski story. There was another similar case in New Zealand in 1959, I believe, which resembled the case of Rev Gill and his mission boys.
