The Roswell slides are photos of a White Sands rocket test accident?

This insertion is from an abstract about Rocket tests, beginning in 1946, from White Sands:

Many of those who worked in rocketry during the war nurtured the hope that the time may come when rockets are used for the sole purpose of scientific exploration. For me, the realization that this time had indeed come occurred in the summer of 1946 on the White Sands Proving Grounds where some of the captured V-2's from Peenemuende were testfired.

Working on the gyro stabilization system near the top of the rocket high on a shaky ladder, I met a young scientist who stood nearby on another shaky ladder and fixed a little Geiger counter that he had built at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington. The counter had a thin window to admit ultraviolet radiation from the Sun; the name of the young scientist was Herbert Friedman. For Dr. Friedman, this rocket flight in White Sands stood at the beginning of a brilliant career in space science. [Italics mine]

(No, the Dr. Friedman is not Stan or a relative, as far as I know.)

Here is a link to the full page from which I culled the excerpt above:

White Sands

My suggestion is that what Bernerd Ray's kodachromes show is the aftermath of a White Sands rocket accident. in which some Navy personnel were wounded or killed.

The Roswell team hasn't pursued this possibility because of their zeal to show the body in the slides is an alien (extraterrestrial) humanoid.

I don't think the Roswell team has drilled down deep enough to determine what the Kodachrome slides actually show.

  • Unless and until these slides actually appear I think we should cease talking about them.

I predict that their value to science and the understanding of life in the universe will be on a par with the MJ-12 documents and the alien autopsy film. In other words, precisely zero.

  • CDA:

I don't think the slides are about to make a public appearance any time soon.

And I agree -- they shall prove nothing.

  • Don't expect to see them until Carey and Schmitt get the book deal, documentary, movie rights and merchandising sorted out.

  • The alleged slides and the surrounding hoopla (I may be too kind) reminds me of a movie trailer of a coming attraction that is perpetually dangled in front of the UFO crowd...self-induced hypnotic effect?

I suspect the last dying breath of the Roswell saga unless someone rolls in the crash cart.

  • Rich:
Are you trying to get Tony worked up? lol
Tony said that the being in the photo was not a human. Now, you could argue that it is his interpretation. However, it would be pretty difficult to mistake an injured adult human for a 3ft tall humanoid.
I am with you though that these slides won't prove much. They could be great pieces of circumstantial evidence but will most likely not be the smoking gun everyone would like to see.
Anyhow, not much to talk about until they release the images to the public. If they ever do release them.

I'm pricking -- and I bet the team thinks that's the right word! -- the situation, hoping to get the situation on track.....it's been months now since they started the conversation.

Even if the slides prove nothing, we can at least move on when it proves to be nada.

  • I rarely agree with CDA- but his point is a good one- until publication of the slides (which will happen folks)talk about what they show should be reserved only for those who have actually seen them.

Honestly, the idiocy of trying to say what the slides depict without actually having viewed them is ridiculous. It is frankly an intellectual outrage. Any outsider would think this discussion about what something is or is not without any first-hand exposure to be nutty.

The truth is that every person who has seen them (including PhDs MDs and photoscientists) believe the alien depicted to be that of a corpse of a non-human bipedal being.

I am also anticipating that when released, we will hear many equally wack theories about the slides, how they were examined and what they depict.

Just yesterday I received an email from someone trying to discredit the slides because he had learned that some of those who examined the film have had prior association with the CIA, implying a disinformation operation of nefarious intent.

Well yes, his former company (KODAK) did have long-time associations with the CIA, NRO and other intel as well as defense agencies. Some who have viewed the film are with other federal agencies such as NASA.

So my concern is that people will dream up reasons why the slides are not really "real" - or they will proffer crazy theories that it is a victim of military testing or a mummy. People will dream up that what is shown is government disinformation. People will dream up all kinds of crazy things about the slides...

You guys are proof- you're doing it even before you have seen them!

  • While I have some (indeed, a lot) of sympathy with CDA's view that we should cease talking about the "Roswell slides" unless and until these slides actually appear, that would be giving up a source of considerable amusement. I mean, have you guys actually watched the new television interview of Adam Dew (the film maker behind the forthcoming relevant documentary) on a WGN morning show??? I thought it was hilarious... He discusses the "alien" slides while the broadcast images shown on the screen in fact include (at 3 minutes 20 seconds) the images of mummified bodies from the "Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato" recently posted online to DEBUNK the Roswell slides... This was only realised several minutes further into the interview (at 6 minutes 55 seconds...). This saga is already funnier than most comedies currently on television now that "How I Met Your Mother" has finished. The new video is at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7n9GSez2jk
