I think that it is interesting and significant that Dr. Teller was in attendance and asking questions about what, normally, would be considered a rare, but odd, series of astronomical events. What is the "father of the atom bomb" and a nuclear and molecular expert doing at this top secret conference? He was probably stationed at Los Alamos, but still...

"Project Twinkle," as the official investigation of the "green fireballs" was designated, had an all-star cast: not just LaPaz and Teller, but also Dr. Fred Whipple from Harvard and Dr. Clyde Tombaugh, discoverer of Pluto. Because the fireballs were appearing regularly over New Mexico and specifically over high security military bases and nuclear facilities, there was great cause for concern.You'll also see a curious item at the top of page one: Project Twinkle marked the first and possibly the last time that the Army was ever officially involved in a UFO investigation.
