NASA's spaceship to Mars

  • if they can go so far, for what reason they cant go to the moon again? i'am kind sceptical about the ET bases on moon

  • There's no perceivable national will to return to the moon, though polls continue to show we're interested in space. A huge disconnect exists, and of course no politician will stick his/her neck out to push such a program (the last two I can recall were Newt Gingrich and Jerry Brown -- both met with derision from media pundits). The current program (Big Rocket Go Now, but to where?) is based largely on pork barrel funding, but what else is new?

We should return to the moon to colonize, to mine, to practice for Mars and other deep space missions (that's where the asteroid-study mission should lie, with the long-range goal of deflecting planet killers. Obama showed his shortsightedness ("We've already been there"), but he's far from the only one who thinks like that.

I'm sure if dinosaurs could speak, they would have said the same thing.
