Wow! I hope this paper is made available internationally in PDF! The speculations here remind me of Josef F. Blumrich's classic _The Spaceships of Ezekiel_ (Blumrich some kind of aeronautical engineer) and the even grander _Unconventional Flying Objects: a scientific analysis_ by Paul R Hill, who also worked for NASA. I am skeptical of the veracity of the epic descriptions, too, but the intellectual, imaginative exercise is a pleasure...

Yeah, this stuff just doesn't fly."UFO Hunters" tested the famous South American "airplane" pendant (http://whofortedblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/gold_object_colombia.jpg) and discovered that aerodynamically, the thing could float for a bit before it hit the ground. But then, so does tissue paper and styrofoam cups.

I'm agreeing with the study that Jose posted, Rich. The Vimanas stuff doesn't fly -- literally and figuratively. The UFO Hunters test proved nothing. Sorry if I wasn't clear before.
