Nick Redfern on the Kodachrome slides, the Roswell/Aztec (possible) connection, and shady characters

8 Comments:

  • The reason Aztec and Roswell (with or without those slides) are so popular in UFOdom is that New Mexico is known as the "Land of Enchantment".

Yet no UFO writer or researcher has, to my knowledge, ever pointed this out.

  • This article still refers to data supposedly connecting Ray and Newton that has not been published yet, correct?

That was just what the story needed.

  • Hey Lance,

Yep, that's how it is: there IS still unseen info, but that's only while things continue to be investigated and pieces of the trail put together.

It's not for any "scoop"-style reason or anything like that.

It's a careful investigation of the Newton/Ray issue and when it's completed, no doubt it will all be seen.

On a related matter of withheld info, even today, 100s of pages on Gebauer remain classified, some for (to quote the FBI directly) "reasons of national defense."

  • Your last paragraph there Nick....tantalizing. :)

  • I love this whole slides story- real or not. This is a classic mystery story. I'm surprised it hasn't been plucked for a TV show yet. Emphasis on the word "yet". Then again maybe all those tv executives are waiting to see how it all plays out.

  • We are still waiting for the relationship between Silas Newton and Hilda/Bernard Ray to be clarified but...one has to consider the possibility that the Rays themselves might have been shady characters.

That said, if it turns out the slides were part of the Silas Newton Aztec hoax, it would still make this an important discovery. Not proof of aliens, to be sure, but still an important part of the history of UFOs and conspiracy theories. If this turns out to be the case, I would have to congratulate Adam Dew for an amazing find.

  • "Your last paragraph there Nick....tantalizing"

    Yes, or at least well-played.

"Then again maybe all those tv executives are waiting to see how it all plays out"

Here I must differ; suggest you view the character-arc on 'Seinfeld' of "Russell NBC Producer" to better understand your misplaced respect.
