Incommensurability, Orthodoxy and the Physics of High Strangeness: A 6-layer Model for Anomalous Phenomena

A paper by Vallee/Davis for those who think Jacques Vallee's insights are important and who like that he uses UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) as the sobriquet for UFOs:

  • The problem with this article is that it tries to consider UFO reports as the manifestation of one unique phenomenon.

The idea that several but unrelated phenomena may cause these reports seems to be difficult to accept to Vallee.

    As examples:

In the article, we have what Vallee and Davis call Layer 2:

    -sinking into the ground
-shrinking in size, growing larger, or changing shape on the spot
    - becoming fuzzy and transparent on the spot
    - dividing into two or more craft, several of them merging into one object at slow speed
    - disappearing at one point and appearing elsewhere instantaneously
    - remaining observable visually while not detected by radar
    - producing missing time or time dilatation
    - producing topological inversion or space dilatation (object was estimated to be of small
exterior size/volume, but witness(s) saw a huge interior many times the exterior size)
    - appearing as balls of colored, intensely bright light under intelligent control

All these characteristics define the still controversial earth lights phenomenon (as solid evidence of its existence has yet to be supplied), my own field of research.

Now we have Layer 3 which include psychosocial aspects of UFO reporting.

Layer 4 (effects on the witness) may be caused by several but unrelated causes.

Trying to group all these aspects together to form an unique phenomenon is an error.

    Best regards.
