Moving on....really this time!

Kevin Randle sent me this comment (about my posting saying he should move on from the slides topic with the rest of us):

"Really Rich?

Five stories about the slides after you beg me to stop...

What can I say."

He was right to send the comment.

I had posted five things (now deleted as Lance  Moody knows I am wont to do with irrelevant material) about the slides after saying it was time to move on.

My excuse is I was accommodating Anthony Bragalia and my friends Nick Redfern and Jose Caravaca,

They wanted input about the slides to appear here.

But now that the slides imbroglio has reached a denouement by the excellent work of Lance Moody, Paul Kimball, Curt Collins, Gilles Fernandez, Isaac Koi, and others of the "anti-sliders" group (as I call them), we (or I) can truly move on.

The May 5th farce is over and undercut to the point of total decimation.

The slides show a mummy, as Mr. Bragalia concedes.

Roswell has nothing to do with anything about them.

The Roswell Team has wasted two-plus years of their so-called new Roswell research, and the rest of us have wasted reams of our time and lives by going along for the ride.

It's over....done, kaput.

  • RR-

Randle's point was very well taken; I noticed the same thing.

Anyway, I much prefer Jimmy Buffett's advice on moving on:

"According to my watch the time is now

    Past is dead and gone

Don't try to shake it just nod your head

Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On"

  • Oh yeah, and what about poor Nick Redfern?

(He finds himself in the same predicament as Steve McCroskey in Airplane!)

It looks like Nick picked the wrong weekend to quit sniffing (blogging) the 'Roswell Slides"!

  • Nick, Loki, was at a conference but is back to his computer today.

And yes, he missed the brouhaha that he helped create.

  • Twice you have said that you want to move on. What should we move on to? Any ideas?

This topic (i.e. the slides) ought to have been discussed and even highlighted in the film "The Theory of Everything", don't you think?

By Blogger cda, at Sunday, May 10, 2015

  • CDA:

Moving on to anything, beyond those damnable, stupid slides, would make for a mentally healthy milieu.

As you saw at Kevin blog, Mr. Rudiak is off and running with his Ramey interpretation again, an attempt to make Roswell into an ET event, once more, ad nauseum.

Even a discussion of the efficacy of ping pong would be better than as rehash of the slides farce.

It's over, dead as a door-nail, because of the efforts by the "anti-sliders" who should be commended with medals and move on also.

As for the Theory of Everything, the key word is "Theory."

  • A "move on" suggestion: An extended discussion and updating of the little discussed "Ariel primary school in Ruwa, Zimbabwe case" (early 1990s) in which dozens of children described seeing two strange UFOs and occupants. John Mack, as I seem to recall, interviewed some of the children about 2 months after the encounter.

  • An interesting case, Dominick, touched on here several months ago.

I like children sightings or reports; they are free of guile usually, although misinterpretation might intrude, I think most accounts are rather pure of taint.

  • Hello,

This case have been already investigated by our French UFO-Skeptic team.

Have a nice reading, at least in English and what we shared:

By Blogger Gilles Fernandez, at Sunday, May 10, 2015

  • Thank you Gilles....

    Your Ruwa case file intrigues.

    Nicely done.

By Blogger RRRGroup, at Sunday, May 10, 2015

  • Gilles:

The comments of the particular Ruwa posting throws everything but the kitchen sink in as a possible explanation.

Cynthia Hind has been defused as a bona fide researcher, has she not?

As a psychologist, you don't think the children are prevaricators or hoaxers surely?

Children don't do that or can't do that consistently.

They remained in tune with their story from the outset pretty much, even under duress to forget what they experienced or saw.

What's your professional take, aside from the plethora of lame explanations offered in the comments section of the posting?

  • Hello Rich,

In few words and frankly? It will easier for me in French!

BTW: free for U to ask the same to E. Loftus or any Cognitive Psychologists and Specialists of the "Cognitive interview" and specialy with Children. (Read my 2010 book if you wake up).

Shame on J. Mack who have not understood the methodology concerning "how to interview Children" and the "subjective" power of the questions he asked to a child (as an adult and doctor), and then to receive the answer he wanted/wished.

  • I only had a few classes about Child Psychology; I wasn't interested at the time.

But I have my text books and have used them (for other reasons).

Children, as you note, have to be handled much differently than adults, and my feeling is that an initial interview has to be done very gingerly and carefully, or else the original story will be or can be tainted, distorted by the slightest, innocent comment as the child wants to appease the interviewer/interrogator.

This seems to be what happened with Hind and Dr. Mack, both.

  • LOki, LOL, it makes no difference, as I knew that by the time I got back it would all be over.

It's a soap-opera, not a particularly good one, and it;s good it got cancelled by the network.

May it never, ever be resurrected with a new cast!

By Blogger Nick Redfern, at Monday, May 11, 2015

  • And yes, it's 100 percent time to move on and not look back...

By Blogger Nick Redfern, at Monday, May 11, 2015

  • Well Rich, I'll post one last close out article on my blog and then move on to other things...Minot 1968, as it's been lying dormant for sometime.

Oh, you would have noticed my name listed on the Roswell Slides Group. True, I'm a member and I can say that my part was minor and I may be charitable with that description.

My role would have been comparison anatomy and physiology and was in the process of writing something up for the group. With the release of the deciphered placard, my efforts were irrelevant...ah, missed glories and accolades, or outright derision:)

Yet, despite the above, I had the luxury of watching everything unfold in real time...I became an observer.

Well on to the next, whatever that might be.

By Blogger Tim Hebert, at Monday, May 11, 2015

  • Well, you were on the right side, Tim.

Me? I got hoodwinked one more time by the slide-side, which I sidestepped ASAP.

We all will be moving on, as Messeurs Randle, Redfern, et al. indicate.
