UFOs: Artificial Intelligence probes?

I'm pursuing, further, the idea that UFOs and some accounts of them indicate interaction between humans and artificial intelligence "entities" or probes.

I'm listing the 1954 Dewilde episode in that category as ...
... some elements similar to the later Robert Taylor incident, posted previously here, should be noted:

"... his dog started barking

... a light beam got off the object he saw on the tracks and left him paralyzed.

A six-meter depression was found on the exact point where the object has landed ..."

The above from Wikipedia:

Artificial intelligence, created by an advanced (inter-galactic) civilization, as Nick Bostrom's thesis has it, fascinates.

That UFOs and encounters with them (in the air and on land) are the result of AI probes scouting the galaxy and/or Universe, resolves, for me, lots of problems with the UFO phenomenon.

More to follow....

  • One of the best of the French flap sightings. Enough physical evidence of somthing strange to even give Zoam pause...I would think. Don't remember the cattle deaths and blood loss connection but that makes the incident even more impressive and relevant to recent high-strangness incidents here. I like your AI probes conjecture; makes sense to me (rather than, say, flesh and blood humanoids).

  • I think, Dominick, the AI approach is interesting, in a number of ways.

I'll be looking for more of those incidents that might be attuned to the AI conjecture.

If you find a few, send them along.

(I have an AI blog, based upon Bostrom's theses. I'll provide the internet address once it has more meat on it.)

  • Nick Bostrom tackles the Fermi paradox in "Where Are They?"

"I begin by reflecting on a well-known fact. ...Humans have, to date, seen no sign of any extraterrestrial civilization. We have not received any visitors from space, nor have our radio telescopes detected any signals transmitted by any extraterrestrial civilization. The Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) has been going for nearly half a century, employing increasingly powerful telescopes and data-mining techniques; so far, it has consistently corroborated the null hypothesis. As best we have been able to determine, the night sky is empty and silent. The question “Where are they?” is thus at least as pertinent today as it was when the physicist Enrico Fermi first posed it during a lunch discussion with some of his colleagues at the Los Alamos National Laboratory back in 1950."

  • The Great Silence Is Golden!

"So why is the galaxy not crawling with self designing mechanical or biological life forms? Why hasn't the Earth been visited, and even colonised. I discount suggestions that UFO's contain beings from outer space. I think any visits by aliens, would be much more obvious, and probably also, much more unpleasant.

"What is the explanation of why we have not been visited?"

  • The artificial intelligence that Bostrom conceieves, Zoam, have advanced (evolved) to the point that they exceed biological intelligence.

Thus, they'd be able to skirmish among us (and other civilizations elsewhere) without palpable notice.

However, I contend they have interacted with humans here -- see the UFO 'reports I've noted -- but since no one sees such interactions as alien (or extraterrestrial (ahem), they go undetected as intelligent entities, and seen as elements of hallucination, hysteria, or neurological maladies, or hoaxes and misinterpretation.

Bostrom's view is that AI could evolve here and may have evolved elsewhere to the point that they are self-creating surper-intelligences...something I find fascinating and possible, maybe even probable.

  • RR,

That there are some one-off events is intriguing but seems paradoxical in that once discovered one would expect a rush of probing or continued probing with observable patterns to be pursued.

We have to consider that AI would have to be product of Biological Intelligence (of some form perhaps greatly different from ours) thus the BI ultimately behind the probes. That the AI succeeded the BI is a flip of a coin.

I'm still sticking with the notion that some UAPs' observations are likely a result of inadvertent observation through the masks of dark matter, dark energy and the like. As we now investigate the dark matter world and quantum world and recognize the supposed absence of the antimatter world, clearly more is to be revealed. Still, having said all that the diversity of UAps remain challenging.

Cern, SETI et al, and our common AI (the new collective consciousness of the net) are upon us as prophets of further technological based revelation.

With my thermal imager, for example, I now see what was otherwise only felt -and a somewhat surprising aspect of seeing heat is the revealed evidence of the negative side, what is inducing the cold, in evaporative cooling from water/leakage. Other examples abound on the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) where we find radio induced images of the universe.

When we lose confidence in BI due to it fragility in favor of AI as a successor we are projecting that AI did not instead save that/those BIs.

Back to the flip of a coin.

  • I agree with you Bryan.....pretty much.

And I disagree with the great Einstein: God does play dice with the Universe (and us).

The UFO enigma remains just that, an enigma.

And it won't be solved by the Ramey memo or more Roswell dreck.
