UFO Conjectures

"Roswell" in a blog title increases blog-views

  • I'm not surprised: it's a case that so many view as THE definitive UFO case. In a way, it is.

If Roswell is one day shown to be ET-based (or something equally Fortean) Ufology will be vindicated.

If it's proved to have a down to earth explanation, I predict much of Ufology will have a nervous breakdown and will not recover.

So, in that sense, Roswell is the one which so many focus on - because the stakes are very high, whatever the outcome.

Plus, today we definitely lack what we might term a large amount of really "good" new cases. So, Ufology becomes an exercise in nostalgia for many. The good old days. Yawn...

  • Yes, Nick.....I miss the good ol' UFO days....foolish as they may have been.

Nick is right. And his theory is testable.

Rich, if you desired to practise a little social science, this is the time. You could attempt to change the Roswell story -- by addition, I suggest -- and document the reaction.

  • Hello,

It is well known Roswell as or in a title is a powerfull generator of views.

Yesterday, I wrote an short article in my blog about the "Roswell slides" because a "new" forensic Mexican expert claims "not human" and "what is depicted in the slide cant be the Plamer mummy cause the size he calculated". As he shared in different Social medias (FB groups) how we, in the RSRG, are non-scientific, not honnest and more... So, I wanted to reply to him (no time to devote on each FB group a reply where he shared his "findings".

Despite my article is in French, it have generated 1000 views in less 24 hours (generaly, I have 100 views each days for my blog) and all around the world.

  • Odd you say this and then a Roswell slides post appears on Kevin Randles blog ha

  • Yes, Stephen....

    I "wondered" about this also.

Kevin loves a large amount of comments....quantity over quality, often.

  • Nick surely realises that nothing will ever be PROVED one way or the other over Roswell. Or is he still hoping for someone to trisect an angle (you know, by classical methods only)?

  • I just did an article for Mysterious Universe that expands on what's discussed in this thread, and should appear in a day or 2. I'll send the link when it goes live.

  • As I had commented on a previous post, I too saw an increase in traffic when blogging about the "Roswell slides" last year.

As far as Kevin Randle's blog posting, I view it as appropriate due to a "cult" following that has emerged from the ashes of the "great reveal" of last May. I assume that the silent re-emergence of the slides is an attempt to validate all the time and poor effort expended promoting a product that has been rejected at large.

  • CDA: Yes, I always hope for a breakthrough in Roswell. But, realistically, I don't see it happening.
