Not a woman in black (or white) but with a red and white scarf

A close media friend of mine posted this on Facebook, 7/6/16:

"FREAKY.. Sitting at my gate an older woman walked up to me and sat down. Said I want you to know you have a beautiful soul and a servants heart. Although you are solid in your work and your profession you should know they were destined to be in your world and you have changed their destiny ... She then said you are Fierce and have found safe haven with your wife and company She smiled touched my hand and walked away took two steps turned and said oh and happy birthday.. I'm kinda freaked out right now..."

He has found a safe haven with his wife and company. (He's an executive with a large TV broadcasting company).  And he has changed his company's destiny. Also his birthday is 7/7.

When I asked him what the woman was wearing, he said, "... not (anything) black or white, only ordinary clothes and a red and white scarf."

He also remembered she had flats for shoes, with beads on them.

As the woman walked away, she said he had helped her in the past, but he has no memory of the woman.

He had trepidation about boarding his plane, but went ahead, nervously.

His Facebook "friends" added comments saying it was an angel, some offering scripture to substantiate their suggestion.

However, he felt something ominous, even though she gave him "cheers" as Nick Redfern would see it.

And it wasn't one of Nick's Women in Black, was it?

What do you think?

  • I asked him if she was a gypsy. (My mom was a gypsy.....but didn't steal things, as far as I know).

He said she smelled of Menthol or Vic's.....(something I said, all old people smell of.)

  • I've nothing against Gypsies; but I can imagine professional thieves trying all sorts of ways to steal.

I actually see it as a 'cold reading' by a (probably) harmless eccentric.

  • That's what I replied to those who said it was an angel.

  • Perhaps she had some innate psi ability? Interesting story with an ominous tinge.

  • Yes, James...

The fellow involved felt queasy rather than comforted by her remarks.

And the idea suggested many of his Facebook followers that she was an angel irked me.

  • Rich,

I'd say she's not an Angel. (You'd knew I'd say that too.)

By definition, Angels are messengers [Hebrew - Melak or Melakim (plural)]. They have no free-will. They go where they are commanded to go and do what they commanded to do... Of course not all theologies are created equal and some have a different take on Angels than the original (and only) monotheistic (No 2-fers or 3-bies) Jewish mythology.

The person described said "you've helped me in the past..." This implies a relationship. The only "relationship" a Melak has is with God. A Melak would not be permitted to have any kind of "relationship" with humans. Hollywood's version of Angels (i.e. 'Touched by and Angel') is theologically and mythographically improbable.

No, I'd say this was more "new-age-ish" than anything... with a cold reading and a little reincarnation talk thrown in as the icing.

The only exception might be if she was of the Djinn (beaded slippers!)... The Djinn are spirits "made of smokeless fire" just as the Seraphim (a class of Melak) are made. They also have free will. [Read up on your A 1000 Nights and One Night].

If it was me I'd be wondering why someone knew so much about me and how the heck did they get there when I'm sitting in a *secured* location [Outsiders can visit departure gates any more].

Of course the most probable explanation is:

It might have been a chance meeting of a former employee with a person who is now a leading executive. Given his position, he probably doesn't remember every "small fry" or other "low level worker" that he's met over the length of his career but the media industry does live on memories. Especially of the lower eschalon towards the upper since it is by the "graces of the producers / executives / directors" that the small fry get work. For the upper echelon it is remembering the actors / artists / writers/ creative types which make them money.

For a time I was the "computer consultant" for an executive producer (Conan, 24 Hours, etc) and got to see some of the cards, letters, gifts and thank yous he sent out to people the producer wanted to keep in good graces with.

  • One of my guys, Joel, thought it might have been a passenger who sat next to my friend once, earlier,, and conversed with him, but he doesn't remember her.

  • I don't think this was an angel encounter, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that angels don't have free will and don't really interact (relate) with humans (for those who believe Biblical scripture this is quite the opposite).

"Helping" others, as the mysterious woman referred to her past encounter with Rich's friend, is something referenced in the Bible as one which can involve angels in disguise.

    Hebrews 13:2 (various translations all say the same);

"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

There are more than 250 references to angelic beings in the Bible and most are interacting with humans.

Additionally, angels of the Bible are spiritual beings who have personalities that include emotions (Luke 2: 13-14), intelligence (2 Corinthians 11:2, 13) and wills (2 Timothy 2:26). Satan was an angel who was cast from heaven along with many other angels who decided to follow him and chose to sin (2 Peter 2:4). In terms of free will, the Bible reveals this was an exercise of their ability to choose (Jude 1:6).

I believe this is why the man's friends posted on Facebook that this may have been an angel encounter.

After all, if we believe our reality is a matrix controlled by some machine built by an unseen entity, or that plant life is intelligent enough to travel across the galaxy, or that aliens from another world have sent AI over vast distances, what's so hard about believing spiritual entities from another dimension might appear in human form under God's direction?

  • Yes, Brian...

All things are possible in my Universe, and yours too, apparently.

And I think my guardian angel may have saved me from a number of dire circumstances, but skipped keeping me out of Facebook, where the comments, even about angels, are banal, insipid, or smarmy.

  • Indeed, there's a whole cultish following for people who are obsessed with angels. No doubt the reason why the TV shows (mentioned prior) were created....and yes on Facebook too.

  • I have never had anyone disagree with me when I tell them how wonderful and important they are. As far as I know, I am neither psychic nor an angel.

By Blogger esp.philbrook, at Saturday, July 09, 2016

  • Sounds like a viral for the new TV series 7/7.

By Blogger theo paijmans, at Saturday, July 09, 2016

  • @esp.philbrook

Made me grin that one. How people can justify claims of angels and psychics from such a tale is beyond me.
