A Ufological Brouhaha

Isaac Koi is a long-time ufologist, a barrister in England who uses his nom de plume to keep his legal profession separate from his UFO work.
Ted Roe, of the International UFO Congress, seems to have had some disagreement with Isaac and outed the barrister, jeopardizing Isaac’s professional career.
Isaac announced, on Facebook, that he will be dropping out of the UFO community, which would be a real loss, as those of you familiar with his efforts over the years (archiving old and new UFO publication and materials for free access by UFO buffs) know.

The disclosure of Isaac Koi’s real identity is a kindless act, that is horrendous ufologically as it removes one of ufology’s key players and an all-around good person who has served the UFO community for many years, asking nothing in return.

The outpouring on Facebook has favored Isaac, and excoriated Mr. Roe.

The matter is ongoing and I’ll provide more as it becomes available. Why? Because Isaac Koi is a “friend” and a man of distinct ethical behavior, whether in ufology or life itself.

  • Hello,

It is more complicated than this. All started in fact cause the Roswell Slides and Erica Lukes (a closed to Roe) interviewed Jaime Maussan and enacted by Ted Roe.

I heard (and read) I'm the next Ted Roe' target after Isaac.

Of course, if Ted roe is insisting, in this fight, I will provide all.

    It depends on him, now.

    Gilles.

  • What sickens me, Gilles is that a lot of UFO buffs have heard of this row, on Facebook and at blogs like this one, and don't give a damn, when a person as good as Isaac (or you) is being attacked or woefully damaged.

When you decide to fill us in, I'll make sure your insights and information will appear here.

  • Seems a rather spiteful thing to do -- someone lashing out without any concern whatsoever for the consequences of his actions. Or perhaps even intending to cause those very consequences by his action of outing him. Mr. Ted Roe is a loathsome individual in my book. Time for me to go read up on Karma...

  • Curt Collins has posted a comprehensive account of the brouhaha on his blog 'Blue Blurry Lines'.

  • OK Rich,

    First share:

Erica Lukes, Ted Roe and the Attack on Isaac Koi, by Blue Blurry Lines.
Probably one the best current resource in order to have "the big picture" about this saga, real time-line... and more.

  • Thanks Yvan and Gilles....

Your link(s) should be read by those in the UFO community who are conscious, or seem to be.

  • Holy crap!

I admit, I didn´t read your post until just recently. It took some time to realize that, hey, I´ve read this Isaac Koi´s stuff and it was great.
Maybe it´s a (UFO) conspiracy: first they get rid off the intelligent commentators and leave just the paranoiacs? (Be careful Rich, you´re probably next!)

  • This whole fiasco sounds exactly like what some nutty UFO lunatic die-hards would do as an ego booster - rat on a rationally minded fellow investigator who happens to disagree with them.

Ufology, if it ever means to be taken seriously, MUST allow for open discussion on topics that are controversial AND allow nay-Sayers to challenge conclusions made by others, especially FALSE conclusions about blurry photos of monkeys claimed to be aliens. Duh...

Roe and Lukes sound like complete losers. They're both "tools". Just more rubbish from people out to make names for themselves because they can't stand competition or objections which challenge their dumb ideas.

And we thought ufology had hit rock bottom with the slides nonsense. Boy, were we wrong.
