  • Yeah,

the great question is that is there intelligent life on Earth? (Oh, BTW, I thought knew ACC pretty good but this was a new quote to me, thanks for sharing.)I love The Childhood´s End, what a novel.

  • And hey,

Arthur C. Clarke wasn´t a pedophile, that was just some invented story in some British tabloid in late 90`s. Maybe he was gay but that´s a different thing.

    You apparently missed the entries.

  • I'm sorry, too, that Blogger doesn't archive material in anyway.

It's a pain in the ass for we who use it also.

Again, I've covered this many, many times. Even Anomalist is tired of my repetitive posts on the "ET's are too smart to come here" topic.

I can't, and won't, repeat material that is surfeited here just because laggard readers missed it the first or second times around.

    Sorry pal.

  • Hi,

Just came to my mind...Aren´t these modern day stories and channelings of aliens who come to Earth to guide us in attaining the next level or whatever pretty much like Clarke´s Childhood End (published 1953) where aliens arrive to, well, to guide humans in attaining the next level?
And yes, maybe aliens are observing us but keep a low profile and wait that we get smarter (or destroy ourselves).

  • Jerry...

    There are no aliens [ETs]!

  • And hi,

I must add that what I also meant was that I don´t believe it gives any credence to ET hypothesis that so many alien encounters have a precedent in the popular culture. Like, an alien abduction was already so cliché that the original Twilight Zone (1959-1964) had many episodes dealing with it, as had Outer Limits. And all this before the Hills case.

  • Ruch

I think there are aliens, just that they´re not visiting us : ) And they don´t live near us. I sometimes wonder where they are (the Fermi paradox thing), but maybe they´re in the next galaxy and there´s no way to travel faster than light...And yes, maybe they´ve just send AI probes to search the galaxy. Actually I´ve started thinking that your idea could really be true. I think it would explain so much.

  • I agree Jerry:

ETs abound in the Universe, perhaps.

They just don't abound in the skies over Earth (on in the seas or on farms).

  • Yes, Rich,

and of course real aliens could observe us so that we didn´t notice anything. Why abduct people when you can get human DNA from the nearest garbage can?

    JC

By Blogger Jerry Cornelius, at Wednesday, December 14, 2016

  • No, Jerry...

There are no aliens observing us or abducting people (or scouring our garbage cans).

You've got to cleanse your palette of such nonsense, even hypothetically.

  • Rich,

I have often thought about the "myth of Disclosure" (with a big D) -- and hey, if I get too off-topic, just tell me, I don´t mind, it´s your blog and your rules! Anyway, this Disclosure thing just makes me wonder don´t these people know any UFO history. Disclosure is like the end of the world, it´s always coming and very near but it never arrives. And the first mention of a disclosure I´ve seen is from the 70´s and at least by the time of The Close Encounters of the Third Kind the story was that the movie was made to prepare people for the revelation that ETs are real. Yeah, right, after forty years we´re still waiting. I think I´ve said this before but I think that what the US air force don´t want to reveal is that they really don´t know more than us about the UFOs and why should they confess that?

  • Rich,

I think we agree. I don´t really believe ET visitations, I just want to keep my mind open and whatever. And I don´t want the ET-hypotesers to post their views endlessy commenting my posts, seriously : ) My point is that the UFO experience is both physical and psychological. There´s a physical happening that maybe triggers something psychological, like psychedelic drugs trigger some parts of the brain and the result is a "trip".

By Blogger Jerry Cornelius, at Wednesday, December 14, 2016

  • Yes, Jerry, we can't rule out ET visitations; they are possible, but unlikely in the numbers suggested by UFO reports.

  • Rich,

I must admit that I think I overplay the ETH point of view. I don´t really buy that, I think that something else explains these UFO encounters. But of course I can´t be sure and I don´t want to be too sceptical. Because, after all, I´ve been reading ufo sites some years and I´ve found out that sometimes these "sceptical" views get so much bad comments and derision and I don´t think I could withstand that, seriously. Maybe I´m a coward but still....

  • I'm not skeptical at all Jerry.

I even think that ETs may account for the UFO phenomenon and Roswell, but only as a possibility, not a probability.

In the UFO community, skeptics and ETH advocates (along with abduction "nuts" and AA theorists) get lambasted all the time.

It's the nature of ufology as Cognitive Psychologist and French skeptic Gilles Fernandez intones all the time.

  • Rich

yes, I too think that ETs may explain some happenings...but probably not. I think that ETH advocates have a bit too much room in the UFO community. Or, like my ex-girlfriend said (seriously), "I don´t believe that there´s life on Sirius, I know there is!" That´s was pretty much the end of the discussion...
