First it was a Weatherballoon, then it was the Mogul Balloon and now it was another Balloon - it is sooo ridiculous!

Do you all really think the People (Mac Brazil, Jesse Marcel and other Witnesses) in that Time (1947) were sooo stupid? It was only 1947...and not the Middle-age as People thought the Earth was flat!

  • Nick refers us to Keith Basterfield, who refers to someone called 'Martin' who tells us that it was his father who actually saw or knew about the event. Again we have a "deathbed confession" decades afterwards.

Is this the sort of evidence we are supposed to accept? We have had these same 'deathbed confessions' before, except in such cases (cited by Randle & Schmitt among others) the debris was said to be extraterrestrial. Now it is said to be terrestrial and probably US made, but still so secret that we cannot be told the story until the said witness (or his son) finally dies. And even then his name cannot be revealed.

That's ufology for you. Or rather: that's Roswell ufology for you. That's progress for you!

Meanwhile we've got a general election today. That'll take our minds off Roswell for a day at least!

  • ML: No, of course they weren't stupid. But, that doesn't mean it wasn't a balloon. Let's not forget too that by Brazel's own admission military balloons had come down on the ranch on two previous occasions...

  • Ok...and at the two Balloons he didnt go to the Sheriff in Roswell and no Army from the Roswell Airfield came to Brazil to clarify the two Balloons, right?
He did that only at the Roswell-"Balloon", right or not?

  • Marcel's statement concerning the length (depth) of the debris field has always interested me. If his quote is accurate, he said that the wreckage was scattered for roughly three/quarters of a mile. That is one HECK of a long distance (that's over 1300 yards for you golfers out there)and it just does not compute (to me) that the balloons shown in the pictures, even smashed all to hell, could do that. What am I missing?

  • Weather balloons can be used to study weather....or they can be used in a system that looks across the horizon for the tell-tale signature of nuclear detonations. Saying it was a 'weather balloon' doesn't imply that the subject being studied was the weather itself.

  • Nick -

Actually, what Mack Brazel said was that he had found weather observation balloons on two other occasions but this didn't resemble in any way either of them. This device, whatever it might have been, scattered debris over a large area so that Brazel was worried about who was going to clean up the mess. You all can put your spin on that.

  • You see, Nick, also concerning the other Comments, you are wrong with your Theory!

Or with the Words of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos:

"I´m not saying it was Aliens. But it was Aliens!"

  • I have to go with our old friend Occam, the simplest solution is that it was Mogul on the ground and the rest is now worn out folklore.

  • Occam died 1000 Years ago...are you really sure that you to take over Arguments from a Man who lived in a Time where the most People thought that the Earth is Flat?

  • ML:

We are talking The Roswell here. If ever there was a UAP/UFO topic that screams for just common sense it is here.

Philosophy of a 1,000 years ago, or even further back, in the search for truth has no age related connection. The Razor is as true now as it was then.

Roswell is a black hole of our topic. It just runs counter to reason and has simply been regurgitated repeatedly by true believers irrespective of the real evidence.

Your analogy is very bad. It is (another) myth!

  • Michael: You are clearly in an emotional "I want to believe" mode. You need to keep beliefs out of Roswell and go with data and evidence - and nothing else.

  • Kevin:

I'm not saying that the Roswell wreckage was a weather device, it clearly wasn't.

My point is that by Brazel's own admission, 2 military devices had come down on the ranch previously.

Could a UFO have crashed on the same land where 2 military devices had come down earlier? I guess so.

But, what's more likely: a UFO coming down or a third military device?

By Blogger Nick Redfern, at Friday, June 09, 2017

  • @Nick Redfern:

No i´m not in an emotional "I want to believe" Mode, i´m in an angry "I know the Testimonies, i know what they saw and it was Aliens!" Mode.

  • And I'm supposed to be impressed by your belief system (because that's all it is)?
