The [New] Roswell Slides Group

Film-maker and UFO buff, Paul Kimball has gathered together a group of respected UFO researchers, academics, and media professionals, including a former member of the so-called Roswell Dream Team to investigate further the Kodachrome slides and activity pertaining to them.

Mr. Kimball has set up a web-site – www.roswellslides.com -- in his zeal to accommodate, without secrecy, those who are interested in the slides.

The site has just been established and has no material to scrutinize at the moment but will contain information as it becomes available, and is vetted by those involved.

  • Hi Rich,

Just one corrective - I didn't assemble the research group. It sort of evolved organically, but the original creator was researcher Curt Collins. I was an original member that he brought in; others have joined since. Unlike the Dream Team, we are being meticulous with our research, with a true back-and-forth that all members can engage in, and we will only release our findings once we are satisfied that the work is done, and not in the piecemeal fashion of the DT. There will also not be any big production in Mexico City, or a film, or any other money-making venture - this is research the way it's supposed to be done.

  • I like the concept. Hopefully, this research group will be able navigate through the weeds and sand traps that seemingly dot the Roswellian landscape and specter that has somehow been attributed to the slides.

Good luck Paul, Curt (and others).

  • Good on you Paul, this is how the slides should have been handled in the first place without the circus that has been created around them.

I wish you good luck on your quest.

  • Rich,

I've been re-reading Randle's "Roswell Revisited" and find it is not really "UFO research". Research is "the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions."

What is usually self-described as "UFO research" is in fact only "UFO investigation". Investigation is defined as "the act of carry out a systematic or formal inquiry to discover and examine the facts of (an incident, allegation, etc.). In all of the things I've read no self-described researcher has made one predictable / provable assertion.

Most "UFO research" gets no further than "collecting data points" and sometimes, somewhat, the facts.

The root of research is the scientific method. It is rare that anyone in the UFO field has done anything close to "research" by applying the scientific method to the whole subject (Hyneck and Vallee are exceptions). Scientific method requires the collection of "data points" and then posing a hypothesis and then testing that hypothesis against the data points and / or making predictions that can be tested. An example of that was the paper you posted a while back [elsewhere] by Gaines Crook about electromagnetic effects and UFOs.

For the most part alleged "UFO researchers" are only "investigators" who have no way of actually putting their work in a scientific context. Mr. Randle's "revisited" book is a collection of "he said - she said - I said" that does not "prove" anything about the alleged topic.

A research team concerning these "1947" "Roswell" slides seems like a good idea except: how can they get unfettered access to the slides considering they are the integral part of the Cinco de Mayo Team's Extravaganza (debacle?). (It seems that "Cinco de Mayo Team" is a better name for the alleged 'dream team'... since the CdM Team seems to be focusing on fireworks and an empty Pinata to entertain while collecting the cash of the credulous.)

Basing research on "tainted" source material (should one believe the words or evidence presented by the Cinco De Mayo Team?) or evaluating second-hand evidence (a picture of a slide is not the same thing as the slide itself) is less than satisfying... and in some ways does no better than the CdM Team's Farce.

The problem when dealing with (a) huckster(s) / grifter(s) / liar(s) is that somebody will always believe the tale that is spun by the straight-faced liar(s) because they want to believe in the "magic".

Attacking the liar(s) just forces the liar(s) to move down the road to their next side show event... while attacking the sideshow itself just shows it to be what most reasonable people knew it to be in the first place.

I hope that this new team can shine some actual light on these slides (sorry, could't resist) but some how I don't think they will get any farther than the CdM Team in presenting "factual" information.

    I like your thinking!

  • Paul Kimball

Im curious, do you have access to the slides ?

  • Hi UFORN,

I mentioned the group to Rich in an e-mail and when he asked if he could note it here I said yes... but that's as far as we will go in terms of discussing what leads we are pursuing, what materials we are working with, etc., until we are ready to present our work. Sorry.

  • Greetings,

Rendons à César, ce qui appartient à César"

In fact, the original idea to create a group in a social media (FB) is the initiative of one famous Spanish investigator ;)

Anyway, I'm glad and so happy that individuals, not very sharing the same views and opinions regarding the UFO phenomenom, can "be parts of a group", "to play in team" (in French, "principe du livre blanc") between them and toward differences, and for "one" case...

I have always liked such co-contributions, works, investigations and counter-investigations, between "skeptics" and "UFO-proponents".

It is remembering my co-authored article regarding/adressing the most famous Hessdalen photo/video, despite Hessdalen is not becomed a myth in USA, like in the old continent, article in my blog.

So, it is a pleasure to be part of this team.

Something the so-called "Roswell DreamTeam" have always failed (to regroup "all tendancies" people), and have "implosed", despite Kevin Randle (dream) describing the Roswell Dreamteam counter investigation with such a "decorum".

In essence, the "Roswell slides" research group, FTW!

PS: And because I like Heavy Metal and Saxon as Iron Maiden, be sure that... "it is two months before Maussan show"

So, 2 Minutes To Midnight ;)

  • Gilles...mon ami:

You are full of French giddyness.

By Blogger RRRGroup, at Tuesday, March 03, 2015

  • No pb, Rich, concerning this modern myth and new Saga...

Rendez-vous in May the 5th, or in our site above!

Gilles, only a contemporan witness of a modern myth, called "Roswell".

  • Roswell Dream Team Research circa 2015:

    OT, RR:

In all your communications with "AJB", did you ever actually meet him in person?

    OT, Manti Teo:

In all your communications with your "girlfriend", did you ever actually meet her in person?

  • No, Loki, I've never met Mr. Bragalia face-to-face but we have been close over the past several few years.

I've never met Paul Kimball face-to-face but we've been friends (I hope) for about 10 years.

Nick Redfern is my closest UFO friend and we've never met face-to-face either.

I'm a little reclusive as newspaper accounts have it.

Why that is so eludes media and me, myself.

  • "No, Loki, I've never met Mr. Bragalia face-to-face but we have been close over the past several few years."

Please understand that you have, and always will have, my respect.

(a current event Nimoy/Wrath of Khan pun, but nonetheless true.)

  • Hahahaha...cute.

And I respect you also Loki and see the consternation among UFO buffs as transitory, even a little silly.

As Gilles Fernandez nails it. "That's ufology!"
