The Red Planet Mars (a 1952 movie for your enjoyment)
The movie -- which can be seen on YouTube -- shows that, in 1952, Mars was still thought to have canals and a civilization.
The gist of the movie was the current, at that time, Cold War: The United States vs Soviet Russia.
The movie is rather hokey, with all the ideas about alien contact -- in this case alleged messages from the Red Planet about their "advanced civilization" which destroys the American system of capitalist enterprises -- which some say UFO disclosure would bring about if it occurred.
The film then swerves into something else, which I won't divulge here so as not to ruin the ending.

I like this film; it was enough different from the usual '50s sci-fi fare to stand out, despite its quirks and the shift in focus at the end. I must remember it next time I light a cigarette.

Ron,
I stumbled upon this while searching for Chopin interludes, and stuck with it.
It has the same flavor as the movie -- I can't recall the name at the moment -- about the voice of God that turned out to be....well, you know; you've seen it surely.
What's that movie, with a well-known actor of the day, a guy who did lots of Twilight Zones.

Hah! I was thinking "Red Planet Mars" would be a good double-bill with "The Next Voice You Hear," but you beat me to posting it. And James Whitmore was the actor. His co-lead was Nancy Davis, who is better known for other things.

Grazie Ron,
I knew you'd have the movie and Whitmore.
I forgot Nancy Reagan was "co-star."
I'll have to find the flick on YouTube; I haven't seen it in years.
